Art is Positive Empowerment is a multi-dimensional platform offering:
- Poetry performances that inspire, provoke thought, and promote empowerment.
- DJ Services through DJ Art.is, who brings unforgettable vibes to events with seamless blends of Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, Oldies, and more.
- Event Planning and Coordination, including the highly acclaimed Release: Open Mic Series, housed at the Anacostia Arts Center. This event gives local artists from the DC, MD, and VA areas the opportunity to showcase their talents, market themselves, and connect in supportive creative spaces.
From poetry to DJ services to event coordination, Art is Positive Empowerment creates opportunities for artistic growth and community building. Our goal is to partner with small businesses and organizations to host and sponsor events, fostering a vibrant and thriving artistic community.

Art is Positive Empowerment (AiPE) is a creative engine rooted in Washington, DC—led by poet, DJ, curator, and community builder Artis Jones (DJ ART.is). For four years, AiPE has created spaces where artistry, culture, and community meet through signature experiences like Release Open Mic, the SECAB Festival, youth programs, and immersive DJ events across the DMV.
From poetry to curation to sound design, AiPE is built on the belief that “Doors open when you walk in your intention.” Our mission is to uplift voices, celebrate creativity, and empower communities through intentional art, storytelling, and unforgettable live experiences.
